Once the phone arrives, I plan to call again and double check on everything. Also in our area AT&T has by far the best coverage, so we won't plan to leave AT&T based on that alone. per month and I don't expect to use more either.

In my case, if I can keep my existing contract (which is by the way not that great with 4GB high speed rollover shared, and $85 for 2x lines with unlimited everything else), then I'm OK with that for the next 36 months (we aren't using much data, my wife has been using 0.5 GB max. At least that how it was a few years ago. Although I think that the deal that everyone is getting may involve forfeiting a $15 monthly discount with BYOD. So I'm wondering if perhaps this deal will work out for me having received a locked phone with 36 installment payments and corresponding credits for the next 36 months. While I wanted an iPhone SE anyway, I was considering to buy one unlocked from Apple and not from AT&T to avoid 'bloatware' (in case the AT&T version has 'bloatware' installed - hopefully that is not the case).

Worse that can happen, that I bought an iPhone SE at full price from AT&T. But like said, it did not even come to that as I was right way offered the iPhone SE instead - which I was going to buy with my statement credit to begin with. So it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the coming months.īefore my call, my initial goal was to get about $100-$200 statement credit. He assured me he has noted our agreement and told me not to worry. So I made sure to ask him to take some key notes about what we have agreed to over the phone (free phone, open BYOD contract). I guess he himself was not aware of the process.

He just said any initial installment payments were going to be reversed in the coming billing cycles. Although even he could not explain much about the details. Since my original post the following eMail has arrived, which I needed to accept to preceed:ĭuring our conversation, the Customer Service Rep has told that something like this may happen.

I'm curious if the SE is free or slight upgrade charge.Me too! In addition to agreeing to terms and conditions over the phone, Customer Service Rep told me that prior of shipping the phone, I will need to accept terms and conditions for the upgrade, which I supposed to soon receive per eMail.įingers crossed for this deal to go through as planned for myself and for those who are interested. I'm not sure if the iPhone was available to me due to me being a long time customer (well over 10 years). I asked why so complicated, rep said this is the way they handle promotions. I shall be charged a first installment, that is supposed to be credited back the following billing cycles. I was asking multiple times if this affects my contract in any way and I was assured 'no' and that I will continue to be treated as BYOD customer with my open contract. I chose iPhone SE (2020, with 64gb and color of my choice). So as it turns out, I had a choice of iPhone SE, AT&T Radiant Core or Cingular Flip. BUT the rep was kind and smart and asked me, if I knew what phone I'm turning down or what they were going to send me - of course I did not. Initially, I stated my request of wanting to keep my phone and declining any free phone. Like others have previously stated, the Customer Service Rep already knew what 3g Sunset and my situation was about. Actually, I just got off the line with them. Like the title says, after receiving multiple texts and then a letter, today I called AT&T customer service. 132 Apps & notifications.136 Recently opened apps. 88 View pictures and videos using Photos.
